The South Worcestershire Prostate Cancer Support Group is delighted to welcome
Tony Collier from Altrincham (South Manchester) as their guest speaker on
Thursday, September 14 th . (6.30 for 7.00 pm) at the Wychavon Civic Centre in
Pershore.
Tony has run marathons all over the world, including Tokyo, New York, South Africa,
Boston and Berlin, and was in training for an ultra-marathon run (100 kilometres) in
2017 when he was diagnosed out of the blue with stage 4 prostate cancer. Over the
last 6 years Tony has become one of Prostate Cancer UK’s most vocal
ambassadors, urging those with or without cancer to build up their fitness levels.
In March Tony was elected as Deputy Chair of Tackle, the federation of prostate
cancer support groups (PCSGs). His advocacy of greater fitness levels and his
clashes with some GPs who have been unwilling to grant PSA tests to asymptomatic
patients have brought him to the attention of national media. Just a couple of weeks
ago he featured on a Sky News item devoted to prostate cancer.
The meeting is free of charge to all county PCSG members, their partners and any
non-members interested in learning more about prostate cancer or how to develop
fitness levels in order to take on 5km park runs or more challenging events. An
evening not to be missed!
